Worm Wheel (module 2, 30 teeth)

The wheel for the module-2 worm above: 30 teeth, 60mm pitch diameter, 64mm over the tips, 10mm face, 8mm bore, cut at a 7.1° helix — the worm's own lead angle, which is what makes the pair mesh on 90° crossed axes. 38mm centres, 30:1 in one stage. Worth being straight about what it is: a helical spur wheel, not a throated one. A proper worm wheel is hobbed with the worm's own form so its rim wraps around the worm and the two touch along a line; this one touches at a point, so it will carry less than a cut wheel. It is also what almost every printed worm drive actually is. Throating it needs a variable-radius profile per layer and a hob simulation, which is a different piece of work and not what this is. Prints flat; at 7.1° the helix barely leans, so no support. Nylon or PETG against a PETG worm.
